Improving Dental Care with Cone Beam CT Technology

Many uses for Cone Beam CT Scan

The dental cone beam CT scanner is frequently used for orthodontic treatment planning. It is also utilized for complex cases such as impacted teeth, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), and dental implants.

The CT Scan is used for dental implant placement

Patients who undergo dental implant procedures can have peace of mind knowing that advanced technology is being utilized to ensure utmost accuracy. With the help of dental cone beam computed tomography, a comprehensive 360-degree image is captured, offering a detailed 3-D view of various areas including the teeth, mouth, jaw, neck, ear, nose, and throat. This exceptional imaging capability enables precise planning of implant placement. Moreover, this technology facilitates virtual surgery planning, leading to smaller incisions and quicker healing periods for patients.

The procedure for Cone-Beam CT Scan

When preparing for a cone-beam CT scan, the process is similar to getting a traditional x-ray. You will need to lie in the exam chair and remain still while the machine rotates around you to capture the image. This procedure is painless and only takes about a minute. Afterward, you can resume your normal activities.

However, it is important to note that metal objects can interfere with the image quality. Therefore, we kindly ask you to remove any jewelry, glasses, and dentures before the scan. For women, even the metal on an underwire bra can affect the images, so we recommend leaving those at home on the day of your scan.

If you are pregnant, please inform us in advance so that we can take the necessary precautions.
